Joan Roca, Martín Berasategui, José Andrés, Mauro Colagreco and Quique Dacosta will have to come up with the goods and serve their tasting menu on a date to be set prior to Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2022.

On Monday, Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España launched a video (#invaluablefood) inviting actor Robert De Niro to promote the summit in exchange for “the dinner of a lifetime”. He was given 48 hours to respond. It took him 72 hours, but De Niro has accepted and also sent his reply via video: “I’m in. Of course, I’m in. Gracias Madrid Fusión. See you whenever I get over there.” 

By accepting, the American actor – an avid foodie and entrepreneur with restaurants all over the world, as well as in Spain – will become the image of Madrid Fusion Alimentos de España 2022. In exchange, he will receive the promised “priceless meal” to be served on a date to be set before January 15, 2022. 

The location has yet to be decided and the tasting menu will be overseen by the ten hands of five of the best cooks in the world: Joan Roca, Martín Berasategui, José Andrés, Mauro Colagreco and Quique Dacosta, chefs and entrepreneurs who have 25 Michelin stars between them.

The video for the ad campaign – shown on social media – was created by Leo Burnett and produced by Attic Films. The leading role was played by Larry Tales, who enticed the famous American actor to respond to the deal. Almost at the eleventh hour, he sent the organisation a message to say he would think about it. Today De Niro replied to the proposal, which has created international excitement. Many internet users tried to get involved and, in many cases, put themselves forward as candidates to replace De Niro. That won’t be possible now. The actor has accepted. Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2022 now has its ambassador.
